The Journal for the Academic Study of Religion publishes research that engages any topic, tradition, or methodology in the field of religious studies. As a generalist journal, we prioritize high-quality submissions that communicate effectively across disciplinary boundaries. The Journal was founded in 1988 by the Australian Association for the Study of Religion. Until 2013 it was named the Australian Religious Studies Review. From 2024, the journal has come to emphasize its international orientation, centred on the significance of place for scholarship on religion.
