Prepaid electricity consumers sweltering under regular disconnections, report finds

In short: The experiences of First Nations customers accessing electricity via prepayment arrangements has been investigated for the first time in a new report. 

Researchers found frequent disconnections occur during hot temperatures, "undermining health, wellbeing and economic participation". 

What's next? The report will be tabled in parliament today, calling on the federal government to establish a priority services register and greater protection from disconnections during extreme heat.
