Description
This dataset contains global gridded scores of predictability, constancy and contingency calculated for both temperature and precipitation using the Colwell index (Colwell, 1974). The raw climate dataset was the Climate Research Unit (CRU) monthly dataset at 0.5-degree resolution over the period 1901-2012 (Harris et al., 2014). Methods for calculating the Colwell index were outlined in section 9 of Colwell, 1974. Global biome boundaries and definitions were taken from Olson et al., 2001, and were spatially aggregated onto the CRU resolution. Computer codes for generating the dataset are available via the related website listed below.
