Plastic packaging in Cambodia: waste problems and entrepreneurial solutions dataset

Dataset

Description

This project is concerned with alternative materials to non-biodegradable plastic and solutions to plastic waste pollution in Cambodia. The exploration of vernacular packaging and customary practices using materials such as palm-leaf, banana-leaf, rattan and bamboo is also under-explored compared to the ever-growing industries in bio-plastics and other biodegradable packaging materials. The research extends the amplification of hidden geographies of economic practices in Southeast Asia, keeping possibilities for viable alternatives to plastic more open ended and also promotes an open-minded approach to what counts as social entrepreneurship and who are social entrepreneurs. The dataset contains interview recordings from Knor Dombong and Sokurm.
