Biography

Dr Alexandra Coleman is a Lecturer in Cultural Studies and coordinates Researching Culture (a second-year subject) and Emotions, Culture, and Community (a third-year subject). She is a doctoral graduate of the Institute for Culture, where she continues to co-convene its Bourdieu Reading Group (established in 2017), and was the Whitlam Institute’s E.G. Whitlam Research Fellow for 2020. Her research is broadly concerned with transformations in Western Sydney, the reproduction of class and place-based inequalities, and experiences of social mobility. Her monograph, Class, Place, and Higher Education, was published with Bloomsbury in 2022.
