Biography
Dr. Ayah Abubasheer completed her PhD in Social and Political Thought at Australian Catholic University in 2022, after earning her MSc in Global Politics from the London School of Economics in 2012. She is a recipient of the prestigious Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Foundation Award. Dr. Abubasheer has extensive experience with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and NGOs in advocacy, policy, and community development. Since 2018, she has taught across sociology, politics, social justice, and women’s studies programs at Australian universities, including Western Sydney University and University of Technology Sydney. Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, politics, immigration, and Islam.
