Personal profile

Biography

I am a Lecturer in Speech Pathology in the School of Health Sciences. I joined WSU in early 2021, following completion of a 3-year postdoctoral position at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. I completed by PhD at Sydney University in 2018.

My areas of clinical and research interest include assessment and intervention of childhood speech sound disorders and supporting students and qualified speech pathologists to implement evidence-based services.

I am the Practice Education Lead for speech pathology at WSU, overseeing the clinical placement components of our curriculum.

Research interests

I am interested in improving outcomes for children with communication disorders and in supporting development of the speech pathology workforce.

I have conducted research exploring the service delivery contexts in
which speech pathologists work, the role that parents can play in delivering intervention, and in the use of biofeedback and ultrasound tongue imaging in diagnostic and intervention processes for speech sound disorders. More recently, I have been involved in research exploring the active ingredients of speech pathology interventions and in how students can be best supported to deliver high-quality evidence-based services once they graduate.

I am a member of the Collaboration for Communication Network, an international research group aiming to advance research on working collaboratively with parents

I have experience with a range of research methods including reviews, surveys, intervention research, qualitative research and articulatory analysis.
