Biography

Dr Engi Messih is an associate lecturer at Western Sydney University specialising in Evidence and Criminal Law with a particular focus on marginalised communities and groups. Her research involves an examination and critique of the Australian double jeopardy exceptions with an emphasis on victimology, and the marginalisation of Indigenous communities in the justice system.

Dr Messih has a strong interest in the pedagogy of teaching law to non law students and has extensive experience in teaching students first in family and from marginalised communities.

She obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, a Master of Laws from University of Sydney, and completed her PhD at La Trobe University.

Dr Messih is a first-year teaching specialist and the recipient of the 2022 School of Law Staff Excellence Award for Excellence in Sessional Academic Teaching. She has taught various subjects including Criminal Law, Evidence Law, Fundamentals of Australian Law, Torts, and Enterprise Law.
