Biography

Hasan Ali Khattak is a Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University, Australia, and an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Bari, Bari, Italy, in April 2015, a Master's degree in Information Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, in 2011, and a B.CS degree in Computer Science from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2006. With more than 12 years of teaching experience at different universities in Oman, Australia, Italy, and Pakistan, he has served in many roles, which include course coordinator, theme leader, and industry liaison focal person. He has contributed to various committees in different roles for accreditation to the Washington Accord, Australian Computer Society, and Pakistan Higher Education Commission for graduate and undergraduate program accreditation.

Research description

He has more than four dozen Master's students who are mainly pursuing their doctorates in international universities. With several funded projects completed and many PhD students who graduated, his current research interests focus on future Internet architectures such as the Web of Things and leveraging data sciences and social engineering for future smart cities. In addition to publishing in suitable research venues, he has a cumulative impact factor of 300+, with more than 120 publications in well-reputed journals.

Research interests

Along with completing successfully funded National and International projects, he also serves as a reviewer in reputed venues such as IEEE Access, IEEE Network Magazine, IEEE Consumer Electronics, Hindawi, SAI, IET, and a few national publishers. He is currently involved in several funded research projects in various domains, such as healthcare information management, semantic web of things, and fog computing, and he is exploring ontologies and other semantic web technologies.

He is an active Senior Member of IEEE, a professional member of ACM, and a member of societies such as IEEE ComSoc, IEEE VTS, and Internet Society.
