Personal profile

Biography

I am an academic and practitioner in Exercise and Sport Science with more than 15 years of experience across higher education, clinical exercise practice, youth athlete development, and high-performance environments in Australia, New Zealand, and India.

I hold a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science and am a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA), an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) with Exercise & Sports Science Australia, and a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA). My work sits at the intersection of evidence-informed education, applied performance practice, and translational research.

My teaching and academic practice span exercise prescription, functional anatomy, strength and conditioning, and work-integrated learning. I am particularly interested in bridging theory and practice through authentic assessment, inclusive learning experiences, and industry-aligned education that prepares students for contemporary professional practice. My academic work has included curriculum innovation, accreditation-aligned program development, postgraduate supervision, and collaboration with schools, sporting organisations, and allied health professionals.

My research focuses on human movement, neuromuscular performance, and physical development, with particular emphasis on growth, maturation, and youth athletic development. A complementary area of my research examines physical activity participation and equity, including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and school-based movement environments. My research approach is translational and community-engaged, with an emphasis on generating evidence that can inform practice, education, and policy.

Alongside my academic work, I contribute to professional and executive education in applied exercise and sport science, including the ESSA accredited Fundamentals of Youth Athlete Development microcredential, with a focus on translating contemporary evidence into practical education for professionals working with young people.
