Biography

Dr Krisanthi Seneviratne is a Senior Lecturer and Program Lead for the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) (Quantity Surveying Major) in the School of Built Environment and Design, Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science, at Western Sydney University (WSU).

Prior to joining WSU in 2020, she was an Assistant Professor in Construction Management and Surveying at Heriot-Watt University (Dubai Campus), UAE, where she served from 2014. Krisanthi completed her PhD in Construction Project Management at the University of Salford, UK, in 2013. During her time at Salford, she also worked as a researcher on projects funded by the UK Royal Foreign and Commonwealth Office, titled “Conflict Prevention through Infrastructure Reconstruction”, and by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Education Trust, titled “ISLAND – II”. She joined the University of Salford following two years of service at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, where she also completed her BSc (Honours) in Quantity Surveying (First Class) in 2003.

Dr Seneviratne is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and holds professional memberships with RICS (MRICS) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (MAIQS). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). In addition to her academic career, she has professional industry experience as a Quantity Surveyor with NE Azzam and Partners, UAE.

Her current research interests include post-disaster reconstruction, construction cost management, construction procurement and contract management, and construction education.
