Biography

Lynde Tan is an Associate Professor of Digital Literacies and Language Education at Western Sydney University, Australia. A leading researcher in applied linguistics and language education, she explores how emerging technologies and innovative literacies can transform language and literacy learning. Her research sits at the intersection of multimodal literacies, digital technologies, and teacher education, with a particular focus on empowering educators and learners in technology-enhanced learning environments. Lynde is deeply invested in developing teachers' professional knowledge and students' agency through the integration of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) in language and literacy education.  Lynde’s research program aims to foster critical literacies in educational settings, preparing both educators and learners for the complexities of the digital age.

Lynde is the Chief Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of highly competitive research grants. Her high-quality publications have garnered international recognition, leading to her being invited to deliver multiple keynotes at international conferences and other international consultancies.  In addition to her research achievements, Dr. Tan is deeply committed to academic and community engagement. She has served in various leadership roles, including Director of Academic Program for the Master of Teaching (Primary) in 2023, and is currently Associate Editor for Pedagogies: An International Journal. Her dedication to fostering academic growth is further demonstrated by her mentorship of postgraduate students and early career researchers in language education and digital literacies.
