Mrs Marlene Payk

Dr Marlene Payk is a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience across both public and private healthcare settings. She has worked in diabetes education for more than 30 years, providing specialist care and education to people living with all types of diabetes. Her clinical expertise encompasses diabetes self-management, insulin therapy, and the integration of emerging technologies into diabetes self care.

Dr Payk completed a Professional Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner, with research focused on type 1 diabetes and insulin pump therapy. Her academic and clinical interests centre on the application of diabetes technologies, including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin delivery systems, to enhance self-management, clinical outcomes, and patient experience. 

She is actively involved in diabetes education, professional leadership, and workforce development. Dr Payk has contributed to the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) through mentoring clinicians pursuing credentialling and has held leadership positions within the New South Wales branch, including Branch Chair and Secretary. 

Her current academic interests include the integration of diabetes technologies into undergraduate nursing education, simulation-based learning, and the development of contemporary educational approaches that strengthen the diabetes capability of the health workforce.
