Dr. Mourad Tayebi is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Science at Western Sydney University (WSU) School of Medicine, where he also served as Director of Higher Degree Research. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College London and has extensive experience in neurodegenerative research, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, where his work spans in vitro, preclinical, and translational studies. His research interests include the role of the gut microbiome in neurodegeneration, with notable contributions in Alzheimer's disease research, cytokine signaling, and the development of novel therapeutics. Dr. Mourad has a broad international background, having worked in the UK, US, and Australia, and his research has been featured in mainstream media. He is actively engaged in biotechnology start-ups, currently focusing on probiotics for cognitive health, and plays a leading role in establishing innovative neuroscience research initiatives.
