Biography

Nicole McIntosh is the Director of Career Development of sessional staff at Western Sydney University. Nicole is also a registered nurse with 29 years of experience. Recently Nicole has completed her Bachelor of Nursing honours and wrote a thesis titled An Exploration of Registered Nurses' Experiences Caring for Patients Taking Medicinal Cannabis. In 2024 Nicole published her findings in the Nursing Open journal. In addition to this research Nicole and research team are currently working on an Integrative review around the experiences of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the use of medicinal cannabis. In 2025 Nicole is applying to commence her PhD at Western Sydney University with a focus on medicinal cannabis and is interested in issues such as stigma, cost, barriers and patient experiences and how nurses can play an essential role in effectively caring for patients wanting to use medicinal cannabis as a medicine.
