Personal profile
Biography
Dr. Parisa Ziaesaeidi is an academic and researcher in architecture. Her research employs qualitative research methods, especially visual techniques, to examine the social and environmental impacts of architecture. She is interested in inclusive, community-centred design, which she believes can help create sustainable, resilient urban spaces.
She has also published works in online magazines focusing on sustainable housing, particularly modular construction, and its potential to address the challenges of the housing crisis.
Parisa coordinates and lectures design studios at WSU. Her teaching philosophy is "I believe that students benefit greatly from collaborative learning experiences with their peers. Such interactions not only foster engagement but also encourage active participation in the learning journey. When students engage in discussions with their peers, they naturally develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I emphasise the learning process, rather than focusing solely on the end product when I teach. I make it clear to students that what they learn and how they grow throughout the semester is just as important as their performance in the finals. By creating a culture where learning is viewed as an ongoing process, I encourage students to continue learning and to become independent learners. This approach helps foster an open and supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas without fear of rejection and can freely participate in discussions."
