Biography
Dr Nguyen is the Associate Dean – Graduate Studies at the School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences, and MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, Western Sydney University, and an Associate Professor in Visual Analytics whose theoretical research contributions and interests are in visual analytics and information visualisation. His focus is to find effective visualisations to support the analysis of large and complex data sets, particularly genomics, omics and biomedical data as well as other applications. His research expertise has been built up since his PhD study, his experiences at Western Sydney University (WSU) and University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), as well as visiting positions at various institutions and organizations, including J. Craig Venter Institute, University of Texas at Dallas, USA, Parkland Centre for Clinical Innovation at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas, USA and Tianjin University, China.
He has successfully supervised and co-supervised to completion over 10 research students, published over 120 refereed publications and received over 1.5 millions research grants and funding.
