Biography
Dr. Reshin Maharaj is a nursing academic and mental health professional with over 25 years of clinical and academic experience. She holds a PhD in Nursing and a Master of Nursing from Western Sydney University. She is a member of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
She is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Western Sydney University. Dr. Maharaj is committed to advancing nursing education. She has achieved Fellow status (FHEA) in recognition of her excellence in teaching and learning support in higher education. Dr. Maharaj is authorised to supervise higher degree research students, acting as Principal Supervisor for Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) and Research Masters students, and as Co-supervisor for Doctoral candidates.
Dr. Maharaj's research interests focus on the intersection of mental health, healthcare workforce well-being, and the experiences of vulnerable populations. Her recent publications include a systematic review on the mental health and well-being of international students studying in Australia. Additionally, she has contributed to research on the mental health challenges faced by healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Maharaj is dedicated to enhancing nursing practice through education, research, and clinical expertise. Her work continues to influence the development of mental health nursing in Australia, with a focus on improving outcomes for both healthcare providers and the communities they serve.
