Robin is a registered paramedic and senior lecturer in paramedicine. He brings a broad and international background to the field, having worked in diverse clinical, leadership, and academic roles across six countries and four continents over the past 25 years. His experience includes providing prehospital emergency care in both state and private ambulance services in South Africa, delivering primary care and tactical emergency care in the German Air Force, and working in aeromedical critical care in Qatar. Before moving to Australia in 2014, Robin served as the inaugural Consultant Paramedic at the Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service in Doha. He holds a Master of Science in Medicine, specialising in Emergency Medicine, from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Adelaide, where he focused on the development of evidence-based quality indicators for prehospital care.

Robin is currently an Associate Editor with Paramedicine, the international peer-reviewed journal of the Australasian College of Paramedicine (ACP), and a Board Director of the Safe Airway Society, the interprofessional airway society for Australia and New Zealand. Driven by his commitment to advancing care quality, he recently founded the Prehospital Qualitology Network - an emerging international community of prehospitalists dedicated to driving systematic improvements in quality.

Robin has experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with a strong focus on applied health services research in paramedicine and prehospital care. His work spans mixed-methods studies, systematic and scoping reviews, and structured consensus processes. Robin’s methodological expertise is reflected in a growing portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and collaborative research projects that aim to improve clinical practice, system performance, and patient outcomes.
