Biography
Dr Samantha Woo has extensive experience in teaching inclusive education in primary and secondary initial teacher education programs at the University of Sydney and at Western Sydney University. Her doctoral thesis focused on Investigating Attachment Relationships: Infants with Hearing Loss and Complex Needs. During this research, she worked and collaborated with allied health professionals and special educators at an early childhood intervention centre, to provide therapy and education to young children with hearing loss and additional disabilities and their parents. Dr Woo has also been a guest lecturer for pre-service early childhood educators, sharing her knowledge, experience and research on inclusive education and early childhood intervention, and has developing networks with teachers from Indonesia.
She was recently part of a project that created an education program focused on inclusive education for teachers Indonesia-wide entitled 'Development of tiered training in inclusive education for teachers in Indonesia (via Palladium)'. Indonesian teachers learnt and applied knowledge on inclusive pedagogy, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Dr Woo is currently undertaking a research project on UDL and initial teacher education within the context of Australian higher education.
