Biography

Dr Sarah Casey is Associate Lecturer in the Discipline of Podiatry. Originally from the UK, Sarah worked in the National Health Service for 12 years before migrating to Australia in 2009. Sarah’s clinical experience spans most areas of podiatry and her clinical interests include high risk foot and wound management and foot surgery.

Sarah worked as a Podiatry Lecturer at the University of Newcastle (Australia) for 12 years, including as Program Convenor for the Bachelor of Podiatry. She has extensive experience in teaching and learning and curriculum design, and completed a Graduate Certificate in the Practice of Tertiary Teaching in 2015. Sarah enjoys integrating clinical knowledge and experience into teaching and learning, and has taught across a wide range of podiatry subjects including clinical, surgery, pharmacology, gerontology, diabetes and wound management.

She completed a PhD at the University of Newcastle in 2020, for which she investigated non-invasive lower extremity vascular assessment techniques for peripheral arterial disease. Sarah’s research interests include vascular and neurological assessment, wound care, diabetes and the high-risk foot. She is currently an Honorary Conjoint Scholar at Central Coast Local Health District, and is engaged in clinically-focused research with the High Risk Foot Service.
