Dr Simon Chambers is a cultural sociologist whose work involves understanding the dynamics of how culture is produced and engaged with by audiences in an era of algorithms and digital mediation. His work focuses draws on both qualitative and quantitative methods to develop new knowledge around the social dimensions of cultural practices.

Dr Chambers also maintains a substantial research interest in media and communications, with a specialised focus on media literacy. He has been a contributing member of WSU's Advancing Media Literacy in Australia research team since 2020.
