Biography

Sooaad is a registered paramedic and an Associate Lecturer in Paramedicine at Western Sydney University. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedicine) degree and a Master of Research.

As a paramedic, Sooaad has practiced in both the private and public sectors across Sydney and Newcastle. She also completed training in New Zealand and South Africa during her paramedicine degree. Prior to commencing full time as a lecturer, Sooaad worked as a sessional paramedicine academic with the WSU Paramedicine team.

Sooaad's current research investigated sex-specific disparities in paramedic-initiated analgesic administration, for individuals with acute abdominal pain, presenting to an Australian jurisdictional ambulance service. Sooaad’s broader research interests traverse equity in paramedicine practice across diverse and marginalised populations, where she aims to further develop her academic expertise.
