Biography
Dr Waranga Habaraduwa Peellage is an Associate Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at Western Sydney University. She holds a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka (2017), and a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney (2023).
Her research focuses on rock mechanics, particularly the dynamic and fatigue behaviour of jointed rock masses under cyclic and impact loading. Through laboratory testing, numerical modelling, and interdisciplinary collaboration, she contributes to advancing the design and performance of geotechnical systems, with applications in transport infrastructure.
Waranga has extensive teaching experience across multiple Australian universities, delivering lectures, tutorials, laboratory classes, and computational simulation sessions for key civil engineering subjects. Her teaching approach emphasises student-centred learning, practical engagement, and the use of contemporary engineering tools.
She is committed to enhancing the learning experience at Western Sydney University by integrating hands-on activities, real-world examples, and digital technologies, with the goal of strengthening students’ technical capability and improving the career readiness of WSU engineering graduates.
