Abstract
This chapter reflects on more than a decade's experience of using digital media and communication tools to advance human rights and development. Drawing from a range of projects in countries including Egypt, Sri Lanka and Kenya, the chapter discusses key principles and concepts that are critical to consider when using technology to support civic participation.
