Abstract

Concerning taboos in cross-cultural communication, two things stand out, verbal behavior and nonverbal behavior. The former includes sound similarity, word choice, and questioning routine, while the latter embraces clothing style and gestures. The author is convinced that if the participants are more culturally informed,cross-cultural communication will go smoothly by reducing or avoiding conflicts and shock due to misunderstanding.
