Abstract
Eucalyptus, native to Australia, has spread all over the world. It accounts for a large proportion of the world’s industrial plantations. Countries such as China, Brazil, and India have large timber industries that use eucalyptus as a raw material. However, many believe that this alien species poses a threat to water, biodiversity, and food production. In this article, the author introduces the reasons for the spread of eucalyptus around the world, the scientific reasons for the failure or success of growing eucalyptus, and the different ways people have viewed eucalyptus throughout history.
