Abstract

Teaching academic English writing has played an increasingly important role in the education of science graduates. This is reinforced in the course syllabus, which, however, leaves something for further thinking about methodology for better writing instructions. Several points made in this paper call ESL teachers’ attention to the problems on the part of their students as well as their own and testing methods also need improving. Much should be attempted to upgrade the teaching and learning of English writing in conformity with the graduate education of the would-be scientists.
