    Abstract

Track on CD Unfenced. In this work live computer processing of acoustic guitar is structured to create a combined sonic outcome. Conceived less as duet between guitar and computer but more as creating a new sonic architecture as the result of the natural acoustics of the guitar, computer processing of the sound and the sonic properties of the performance space. The work combines elements of both structured improvisation and pre-composed performance gestures. A pallet of sound processing techniques is incorporated including spectral analysis, granular processing, distortion and feed-back the computer. As a structural element small scale temporal events such as spectral contours, volume envelopes are analyses and magnified in time to become lage scale structural elements.
