Abstract
This entry provides an overview and summary of some of the key themes in scholarly literature relating to queer people in sport, and LGBTIQ+ inclusion. Some of the key discussion points across the topic are discussed, with a focus on young people in sport. This entry notes that efforts to address ongoing discrimination for queer people in sport have had little success, prompting a need for new sporting structures which include gender- and sexually-diverse participants. The entry examines and showcases some key work undertaken by queer communities in building new sporting spaces, with the creation of queer inclusive sports clubs, as well as the ongoing challenges for inclusivity.
