Translated title of the contribution: Action vs. emotion? The gendered body and school Physical Education

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Based on the concept of gender, this article looks at the impediments to girls and boys enjoying sport within physical education, free of any prejudices or pressures from the culture of gender that pervades society. Starting with everyday examples that show how our experience of day-to-day life is gendered through icons, the article goes on to show that sport is seen and regarded by many agencies, particularly the UN, as a fundamental tool in the pursuit of tolerance.
