A comparative survey of legal awareness between Hong Kong and Canadian managers

    Abstract

    This article is a sequel to a paper written by three of the authors and published in The Company Lawyer in 2010. It drew on the significance of Chinese cultural values when managers make decisions. This article differs from the last one in two aspects. First, it focuses instead on the legal awareness of managers surveyed. In other words, do they know the relevant legal issues involved when confronted with problems? Secondly, a new source of respondents was introduced. In the last article, only Hong Kong (HK) managers were surveyed. Here, both Canadian and HK managers were requested to complete the same questionnaire.2 The results are set out and analysed below.
