Abstract

This report synthesises the results from the research described in the chapter, and provides evidence-based, theory-driven recommendations to inform enabling police wellbeing. Results suggest that optimising the contexts in which basic psychological needs are satisfied and minimising the extent to which they are thwarted, will yield the benefits of a healthier workplace, and enable police wellbeing. The results also imply that Self-Determination Theory offers an influential platform from which to move research and practice towards a positive psychology of policing that enables police wellbing.
