A data breach incident in Hong Kong : the disappointing Cathay Pacific experience

Abstract

In 2018, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd lodged a data breach notification. The breach affected 9.4 million passengers worldwide and was perhaps Hong Kong's biggest data breach in recent memory. However, the remedies under the direction of the Privacy Commissioner demonstrates the limitations of the prevail laws in the territory.
