Abstract

This paper proposes a methodical approach to improve the Quality of Service (QoS) evaluation in wireless and mobile networks. The approach uses the fuzzy logic tools and techniques to map the traditional QoS parameters into a unified value to quantify the QoS levels of these networks. Extensive simulation studies are conducted to examine the effectiveness of this method. The results show that our adopted method is capable of improving the quantification of QoS level for both homogeneous and heterogeneous networks. It also outperforms the Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) based QoS evaluation method that applies Multi Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) with Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) algorithm.
