Abstract

This short volume by Mark Hutchinson and Karen Handley is an 'incomplete' history of the Accounting Department at Macquarie University, written for its 50th Anniversary. Spanning from earliest years as Accounting was just emerging as a separate academic discipline in Australia, through its place in the Macquarie ideal, through years of growth and even dominance in its area, to a period of retrenchment as the sector reorients in a period of global surfeit, it is a story which will interest those with an ear for the history of ideas, or who are interested in history of Higher Education.
