Abstract
The Journey of Healing, added to the lexicon of Reconciliation week, took place recently as a feature of mainstream Australia¹s concern with Indigenous people. The additional name is important in as much as it signals a kind of failure to retain a sense of interest and continued engagement with these issues under the sign or title of Reconciliation. Yet most surveys and commissioned research tell us that the mainstream is concerned about Indigenous people and continues to express the need to mark a sense of past injustices in a formal manner. No matter what it is called, we know that the core issue of Reconciliation is one of relationship: an exchange of support in the pursuit of a mutual understanding and respect between Whites and Blacks in this country.
