A love letter to the Slipper

Abstract

What is it about the Longines Golden Slipper that captures this nation's imagination? Wayne Peake has a fair idea. He's seen every version since he was a boy. These days he's a Doctor Of Philosophy, teaching at Western Sydney University: his thesis was a history of Sydney horse racing. He has lived in Sydney's west all his life and knows what this race means to this city. His tribute to the Slipper comes straight from the heart.
