Abstract

This book renews the field of sports by presenting historical facts and analyzing them sociologically, psychologically and philosophically, transcending the interest in women in sports and revealing, through history, the gender inequalities that exist to this day. During women's struggle for social equality, sports have been considered a less important space in this struggle, because the position that women occupy in sports is still much lower than what they should and could have. In the sports world, the number of women who perform technical and management functions is still small, so investigating the prejudices related to women in this segment requires courage and determination, because it gives visibility to a much-discussed topic. In this way, this book seeks to change society's consciousness, aiming for a more harmonious world, where differences are reasons for mutual growth and not a source of humiliation and discrimination.
