Abstract

Michael is a man of great humility who has made an enormous difference to academia and to the accounting profession in two distinct ways: first, by his contribution to accounting scholarship and secondly, through his sacrificial mentoring and leadership skills by which he has in turn developed many leaders. Some people are leaders of followers; only a few are leaders of leaders - Michael is one of these. And I consider it a great honour to be asked to give a tribute to him.
