Abstract

Design rainfall intensity-frequency-duration (IFD) data is a basic input to many water related projects. Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) provides guidance for estimating IFD relationship at any location in Australia; however, methods and design data in the ARR have not been updated since 1987 although there have been the availability of an additional 20 years of rainfall data and notable developments in design rainfall estimation methods in recent years. In the current revision of ARR, derivation of new IFD design rainfall data is a primary focus and has received the highest degree of attention.
