Abstract

This paper presents an information flow model and information sharing matrix, based on a systematic review of the relevant literature on information integration in the fresh food supply chain (FFSC). Information flow model shows relationships among various entities in the supply chain considering information, materials, resources and financial flows. Information sharing matrix identifies various types of information that each stakeholder needs to share at different times of supply chain operations, for effective and efficient supply chain practices. The implications are for practitioners in FFSC management in understanding the participants, their information needs and also for policymakers informing fresh food industry development initiatives. This study investigates the FFSC in a holistic way by identifying the actors, their interactions and information needs and extends the theoretical knowledge.
