Abstract

The New South Wales Government launched its Strategy for the Arts in Western Sydney in November 1999. In 2004 the Ministry for the Arts commissioned an evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of the Strategy that would: 1. Identify the impact of the Strategy on cultural development in western Sydney, report on areas of ongoing need, and make recommendations on the future implementation of the Western Sydney Arts Strategy. 2. Examine the current and potential roles of existing organisations with a western Sydney regional cultural development brief in the context of the Strategy and make recommendations that will enhance regional co-ordination and co-operation.
