    Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a review of BFLPE research conducted in differing cultural contexts. While it is beyond the scope of this chapter to discuss every BFLPE study conducted in various countries, the papers reviewed were selected because each of them adds a unique contribution to our understandings of the BFLPE. We begin by outlining the theoretical basis of the BFLPE model and continue by demonstrating its application to other educational outcomes and summarising methodological developments in BFLPE research. We then describe BFLPE studies conducted in single countries, studies conducted in multiple countries, and the insights that this research has brought to our knowledge of the BFLPE.
