    Abstract

    ![CDATA[The effects of interface slip between steel and concrete elements in composite steel-concrete structural forms leads to partial interaction behaviour, whilst insufficient strength to transfer longitudinal shear between the two elements results in partial shear connection. A series of comprehensive studies that has considered the experimental and analytical behaviour of composite structural elements will be summarised herein. Firstly, the effects of partial interaction and partial shear connection in the hogging moment regions of continuous composite beams will be considered. Furthermore, the effects of partial shear connection on the behaviour of seim-continuous composite beams will also be considered. The paper will summarise the experimental and analytical findings and discuss the implications which these have on the safe and efficient design of composite steel-concrete structural elements as part of steel framed structures.]]
