Abstract

Appearing in the music CD 'New Music for Multiple Keyboards', After the Rain (2010) for four pianos, by Diana Blom, was composed for a short film by Noeline Lucas shown at the Bathurst Regional Gallery in January, 2011 and now part of the gallery's permanent collection. People on the land are fine observers of the weather and above all are deeply concerned about future weather conditions. Lucas's film, After the Rain (2009) was a response to a Hill End Residency undertaken in 2009. The work was developed from local weather at Hill End, filmed early one morning, Thursday, 28 May, 2009, the day after the one day it rained that month. After the Rain (2010) for four pianos, responds to the misty beauty of these weather conditions, and was composed for the film.
