Ageing Australians

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

![CDATA[The chapter will discuss the impact on Australia’s population as a result of ageing and the implications that has for the health care system, and social determinants of health for Australians across the lifespan. Students will engage in reflexive activities where they will be asked to explore themselves across the lifespan. These activities will help students to describe the health, social and aged care services they would need and have access to, and what concerns they would have about their wellbeing and the health care system. From this, students will be introduced to ageism and the ways in which it can impact society at all levels, in addition to its impact on older Australians across all areas of social determinants (including housing, employment, etc.). Students will review national policies related to age discrimination and the role of health care professionals in supporting Australia’s ageing population.]]
