Abstract

This chapter draws together our findings on poverty dynamics and social assistance. First, we consider the predominant patterns of rural change: what is the character of poverty and nutritional security in contemporary Indonesia? Second, we discuss the significance of social assistance programmes: what are the patterns of inclusion and exclusion, and what processes shape these outcomes?
