Abstract
The trade network of the Manang people extends throughout south-east Asia and as far away as Korea; it is not uncommon to see large groups of Manang people jetting to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong. Many people in Nyesyang villages speak fluent English and dress in trendy Western clothing purchased during overseas trading excursions, presenting an incongruous picture as they herd yaks and plow the fields of these remote villages. This exposure also makes them shrewd and eager businessmen, so the traders and shops of Manang are all expensive. There are few bargains to be had here.
