An empirical study on market learning and export performance

    Abstract

This study investigates the influence of a number of organisational learning constructs on export performance. A conceptual framework is proposed and the preliminary results of the empirical test using data from a survey of Australian exporting firms are reported in this paper. The results indicate that export market learning is enhanced by a firm's learning style, commitment to learning and the export team's learning capability. A firm's export market learning is in turn found to have a positive effect on export performance. Further analysis is required to improve as well as test the model using parallel survey data obtained in China. The final output of this study would be a simultaneous analysis of two samples i.e. exporting firms in Australia and China.
